TAIYUAN: Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Cai Qi has emphasized the need for Party organizations at all levels to develop a proper understanding of governance performance through an ongoing Party-wide study campaign that began in February.
Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made these remarks during a research visit to Datong in north China’s Shanxi Province on Thursday and Friday.
During the visit, Cai toured public service counters in the city and interacted with grassroots officials as well as delivery workers. He highlighted that public services should better respond to the needs of the people and stressed that workers in emerging occupations must be respected and given proper attention.
He also held discussions with Party and government officials responsible for social work and handling public complaints. Cai called for stronger Party building in emerging sectors and urged better mechanisms to address public complaints and resolve people’s concerns without delay.
Cai stated that the study campaign promoting the correct understanding of governance performance is a major Party-building task for this year. He stressed the importance of taking practical steps to correct misguided views on governance and ensuring meaningful improvements are made.
