Global Times: China has stated its solemn position regarding Japanese Self-Defense Forces vessel passing through the Taiwan Straits, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun remarked on Monday when asked to comment on question regarding the reports that Japan was set to participate in the US-Philippines joint military drills and last week, a Japanese destroyer transited the Taiwan Straits en route to the exercise area.
Guo emphasized that during World War II, Japan invaded and colonized Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, and bears grave historical responsibility. Japan should seriously reflect on its history of aggression, act with caution and restraint on military and security matters, and stop flexing military muscles and undermining regional stability, Guo noted.
