Global Times: The root cause of the obstruction to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is the illegal military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran. Only by ceasing fire and stopping the war, and realizing peace and stability in the Gulf region, can the safety and unimpeded flow of international waterways be fundamentally safeguarded, Chinese Foreign spokesperson Mao Ning said on Thursday, in response to media inquiry over US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks suggesting that some countries should directly go to the Strait of Hormuz to “take the oil.”
All parties should jointly make efforts to promote the de-escalation of the situation and prevent regional turbulence from causing even greater impact on the global economy and energy security, Mao said.
