Global Times: When asked to comment on Taiwan regional authorities’ announcement that they will change “Republic of Korea” to “South Korea” in some of Taiwan’s entry-exit documents in protest against the country listing Taiwan as “China (Taiwan)” on its electronic arrival cards, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The one-China principle is a basic norm in international relations and a universal consensus of the international community.
“We are confident that South Korea will continue to abide by the one-China principle clearly defined in the joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and properly handle the Taiwan question in accordance with this principle,” the spokesperson added.
