BEIJING: China has extended its visa fee reduction policy for international travelers until December 31, 2026, allowing tourists, business visitors, and frequent travelers to benefit from lower visa charges.Under the new policy, applicants will pay approximately 25% less than the fees in place before 2023.

The discounted rates apply to single, double, and multiple-entry visas, while the application procedures and eligibility criteria remain unchanged. In addition, China has extended the requirement to submit fingerprints for visas until the end of 2026. Travelers applying for tourist, business, family, or transit visas valid up to 180 days will no longer need to submit fingerprints. Officials stated that this move aims to simplify the visa process and reduce processing time.

Originally introduced to promote international tourism after global travel restrictions, the fee reduction policy signals China’s long-term commitment to attracting foreign visitors. Embassies of countries including France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Saudi Arabia have confirmed that no new requirements have been added with this extension.

Officials clarified that the discount applies only to official embassy visa charges; standard service fees will still apply if services are used through visa application centers. Furthermore, the policy maintains China’s visa-free entry for citizens of 45 countries for stays of up to 30 days, which will also remain in effect until December 31, 2026.
