ISLAMABAD – Chinese bus manufacturer Zhongtong Bus Holding Co. Ltd. will start local assembly of its luxury buses in Pakistan by mid-2026, following a newly formalized partnership with Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL).
According to a filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on November 28, GIL has “formally signed an agreement with Zhongtong for the introduction and distribution of luxury buses in the Pakistani market.”
Under the arrangement, GIL will establish a dedicated manufacturing line for Zhongtong buses, Gwadar Pro reported on Tuesday. The filing adds that the new line will be developed alongside the company’s current bus body fabrication facility, enabling local assembly and manufacturing.
The agreement sets out a two-phase rollout. Zhongtong’s Completely Built-Up (CBU) luxury buses are expected to be launched in Pakistan in the first quarter of 2026. Local assembly and production at GIL’s facility are projected to begin by mid-2026, pending regulatory approvals and completion of the plant expansion.
GIL described the partnership as a major advancement in expanding its product portfolio and enhancing future growth prospects. The collaboration will strengthen Zhongtong’s presence in Pakistan’s transport sector while helping GIL boost its manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imported heavy vehicles. The filing, signed by the Company Secretary, confirms that expansion work at the facility is already underway to meet the 2026 production timeline.
