The 91st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) highlighted Pakistan’s surgical instrument industry as a standout participant, with 15 prominent Sialkot-based manufacturers drawing significant attention at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center from April 8–11. Amid nearly 5,000 exhibitors from 30 countries and over 300,000 medical experts in attendance, the Pakistan Pavilion reinforced its global partnerships and showcased precision-crafted medical tools.
Muhammad Noman, Sales Director of Durable Hospital Suppliers, emphasized the expo’s value during his eighth consecutive participation. “CMEF consolidates the entire medical ecosystem under one roof,” he stated while displaying reusable surgical instruments. “Chinese buyers increasingly recognize Sialkot’s craftsmanship, cementing China as a pivotal trade partner.” Sialkot’s industry, renowned for merging artisanal skill with ISO 13485 and CE-certified production, demonstrated its capacity to deliver specialized tools for orthopedics, cardiovascular procedures, and beyond.
While traditional markets like Germany, the UK, and the U.S. remain vital, Pakistani manufacturers are pivoting toward China’s surging demand. Tayyab Tariq of KT Med Instruments, which established a Guangzhou office in 2020, noted strategic shifts. “CMEF’s scale is unmatched,” Tariq remarked. “We’re connecting with procurement teams from lesser-known Chinese cities and European buyers simultaneously.”
Hashir Haseeb, Export Manager at Falk International, revealed tangible progress: “We’re finalizing partnerships with major distributors and exploring a Shanghai office to tap into China’s booming medical sector.” He highlighted the market’s 11.5% projected CAGR, poised to expand from RMB 1.875 trillion in 2025 to RMB 3 trillion by 2030. “Beyond exports, joint ventures with Chinese firms for specialized production are emerging,” Haseeb added, underscoring deepening bilateral healthcare collaboration.
The event underscored Sialkot’s unique OEM-driven ecosystem, blending SMEs and larger manufacturers, while positioning China as a catalyst for innovation and growth in Pakistan’s surgical instrument landscape.
