In a bid to bolster the safety of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar has directed enhanced security measures in key industrial zones, particularly within the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) area, where several Chinese-led projects are active.
During a high-level security meeting held at FIEDMC on Tuesday, the CPO instructed law enforcement to implement strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supported by continuous CCTV surveillance to monitor high-risk zones.
He emphasized the use of bulletproof vehicles for the transportation of Chinese personnel and underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination before any scheduled movements involving foreign nationals. “There will be zero tolerance for any lapses in the security of Chinese nationals,” the CPO stated firmly.
To ensure accountability, the CPO directed the Superintendent of Police for Madina Town Division to conduct daily on-site inspections of deployed security teams. This level of direct oversight is intended to reinforce confidence among Chinese investors and workers regarding their safety in the region.
Senior law enforcement officials present at the meeting included Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Amara Shirazi, SP Naeem Aziz Sandhu, and Jamshed Chishti, among others. The officials provided a comprehensive briefing on existing security arrangements and discussed strategies to further strengthen protective protocols for foreign nationals.
The move comes amid increasing Chinese investment in the region’s infrastructure and manufacturing sectors under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), further reinforcing the importance of effective security coordination for international cooperation and industrial growth.
