Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday urged the national educational institutions to prepare a sufficient pool of skilled workers keeping in mind the requirements of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Addressing a convocation of the National University of Modern Language in Islamabad, he said the CPEC was envisaging an investment of around $45 billion (Dh165 billion) by China which will change the destiny of the whole region.
The 15-year mega project will link China’s western region with the deep-seat Gawadar port on the Arabian Sea in the southwestern Balochistan province of Pakistan through road and railway networks.
The president said the CPEC includes special economic zones, energy projects and the development of the Gawadar port and construction of an international airport there.
