Cambodia on Tuesday announced a pilot visa-free entry program for Chinese nationals, becoming the latest country—after Russia—to introduce a more welcoming travel policy for Chinese tourists.

According to an official government document released the same day and reported by Xinhua on Wednesday, Chinese citizens will be able to enter Cambodia without a visa from June 15 to October 15, 2026. Under the trial arrangement, travelers can stay for up to 14 days and will not need to apply for a visa or pay any related fees. Instead, they will simply complete an electronic arrival card. Multiple entries will also be allowed during the four-month pilot period.

The announcement follows a recent decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, granting Chinese tourists visa-free access to Russia for tourism and business travel until September 14, 2026, with a maximum stay of 30 days.

Reports from the International media indicate that Cambodia’s decision has already sparked a noticeable rise in travel interest from China. Earlier visa-free arrangements between China and Russia had similarly contributed to stronger tourism exchanges and boosted economic activity. From January to October this year, Cambodia welcomed about 1 million Chinese tourist visits, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Tourism cited by Xinhua.
