FATF announces removal of Pakistan from its ‘grey list’, foreign ministry responds

The regular news conference was held on October 24, 2022, by Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the foreign ministry.

Pakistan will be taken off the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) “grey list,” according to a public announcement from the group’s just-finished October plenary session. What has China said?

Wenbin Wang: China congratulates Pakistan and welcomes Pakistan’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s “grey list.” This is the outcome of Pakistan’s consistent implementation of its political commitment, the proactive overcoming of challenges, and the ongoing enhancement of the domestic anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist funding system during the previous five years. Additionally, it accurately represents the acknowledgment and support of the international community for Pakistan’s initiatives to combat terrorism and the funding of terrorism. We anticipate that the Pakistani side will continue to contribute favorably to developing global counterterrorism cooperation and ensuring the safety of the global financial system.
